Land, consent and food

Merauke’s present projects have a longer background. The 2013 Malind field study describes how MIFEE land negotiations and forest conversion affected community food sources and relationships. Pusaka’s strategic-project timeline follows later decisions, including the 2023 designation and the April 2024 sugar and bioethanol task force. These records concern related but distinct programmes. They do not justify treating every concession, rice project and plantation as one unchanged estate.
